A woman named Valinda Cortez was on her way to a store in North Carolina when she stumbled upon a dog living in deplorable conditions. This abandoned dog’s face was filled with despair and surrender to life, and she was soaking from the rain.
Valinda realized she needed to help her right now. She stated “As I stepped out of the car, my heart sank. This little one has spent a lot of time outside in the rain and cold. She was relaxed. I could see this infant had been abandoned.
To win the trust of the dog, the woman approached, wrapped her in a blanket to keep her warm, and stayed by her side for over an hour.
When the dog was totally prepared to be saved, Valinda phoned her friend Sue Massi, who is in charge of rescuing stray pets in the city. Sue came in less than 20 minutes and took the puppy to a shelter.
Valinda stated “She had been disappointed by humans, but I believe that by providing her with food, a warm blanket, and my affection, she will regain confidence in humanity.”
Cassie, the dog, now has a happy expression on her face.
