Pit bulls are one of the most stigmatized breeds due to their alleged aggressiveness. And, ironically, they are the most mistreated puppies and suffer the most anguish after being used as bait in the famed dog fights.
No one can comprehend the agony and misery that poor little Khalessi, a 2-year-old pit bull mix who weighed just 20 pounds when she was found.
When the severely damaged dog was discovered in a family’s yard, Orange County Animal Services was notified. As if she hadn’t had enough of everything they’d done to her, she was finally thrown away like garbage.

Oh, dear! The photographs of him speak for themselves; whomever did that to him must have a stone for a heart. It is really unpleasant and repugnant that there is so much undue violence directed towards an innocent animal.
Half of her face was missing when they found her. Due to previous damage, she lacked a nasal cavity and a portion of her upper jaw. She has ancient pelvic fractures as well as restricted function of her hind legs.
His snout, nostrils and sinus cavity had serious problems. She was horribly scarred.
He also had severe malnutrition and his hind legs were injured.
They notified the animal rescue group “Passion 4 Pit Rescue” as soon as she was found, and Stephanie Paqun, one of the volunteers, did not hesitate to welcome her, and Khalessi received the required medical attention to preserve her life.
But, to be honest, his situation was so tragic that he had a long way to go and many surgeries and treatments ahead of him before he could walk again.
He’d also require some difficult dental repair because some of his teeth had exposed roots due to bone loss in his jaw.
Fortunately, heart problems were ruled out, and his face was treated by a team of doctors. His respiratory difficulties significantly improved, and he also gained weight.
Volunteers think Khalessi was a bait dog in the past, but despite her tragic past, she has always wagged her tail and been friendly and thankful of everyone who have cared for her.
The boundless loyalty he has is incredible, part of his face is missing, but he has plenty of love to share.
He is doing well after undergoing many medical procedures on his hind legs and sections of his face.
And her unshakable attitude has been the strongest motivator for veterinarians not to give up and place their entire bet on her. She had been through so much that she deserved for her to sacrifice everything just to see her smile.
In the middle of everything that has occurred to her, it is reassuring to know that she is in excellent hands and that, instead of a catastrophic conclusion, she now has a life full of care and loving that she deserves.
Although she has a long way to go before being the powerful dog that she will undoubtedly be one day, she is not without affection, and her strength and will to live allow her to keep hope alive.
As for those responsible for so much evil, I hope this narrative and the photos reach them so that they cannot sleep in peace.
