Adoption

Shеltеr Dоg Lеft With A Brоkеn Hеart Aftеr Bеing Stооd Up By Pоtеntial Adоptеrs

It’s difficult not to become excited when someone wants to meet a long-term shelter resident. Many excellent pets have been available for adoption for months or even years. Even when individuals contemplate adopting them, it does not always happen.

Hendrix, a dog from the Kentucky Humane Society, has been seeking for a forever home for quite some time. So when a potential adoptive asked to meet him, everyone was ecstatic. Nonetheless, Hendrix’s adopters stood him up with no reason. Not only are the shelter workers distraught, but the pup is as well.

Adoption Consultation Gone Wrong

Hendrix has been in the shelter for at least 10 months, making him the longest-serving resident. He had been stuck at an overcrowded rural shelter before arriving at the Kentucky Humane Society. As a result, he hasn’t been in a loving home in quite some time.

Despite being a nice and attractive young man, Hendrix received little attention. So he was ecstatic when several potential adopters agreed to see him on January 18th, 2022. Everyone expected the meeting to be a life-changing event for the pup.

However, no one came to greet him. They didn’t tell the employees why, leaving Hendrix wondering what he done wrong. The shelter shared a photo of the pup pouting after the emotional upheaval.

“He was due to meet a potential family today, and he was all excited and suited up… then they never appeared,” stated the Kentucky Humane Society on Facebook. “All of us at the Kentucky Humane Society adore Hendrix, and we simply want him to have a wonderful life with someone who loves him as much as we do.”

Will You Assist Hendrix in Finding a Home?

As a result, Hendrix is still looking for his permanent home. He is certain that his next meeting will be the one. In the meanwhile, the shelter is doing everything they can to promote him.

The 4-year-old pup weighs roughly 57 pounds and is a cross between a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Shar Pei. He’s toilet trained and enjoys human hugging, trashing squeaky toys, and going for walks. Hendrix is a devoted pup, but he prefers a household free of cats and high-energy canines. He may get along with calm dogs, but he must meet them before being adopted.

Hendrix is still upset after being dumped, but he knows his true family is out there. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting him, visit kyhumane.org for more information.
