Dolphins rescue a terrified little dog from drowning in a Florida canal

Dolphins are clever, inquisitive creatures who have frequently been credited with coming to the rescue of people and animals during times of crisis. They are known to be playful, yet they can also be protective and unpredictable. There are several legends of dolphins leading ships through hazardous waters or saving people from predators.

This dolphin rescue includes a little cinnamon-brown terrier who slipped unobserved into the turbulent waters of a canal situated off Marco Island, Florida. When a pod of dolphins discovered the small dog, it must have strained to keep afloat.

The dolphins swam to the scared dog and started surrounding it and making a load of noise. The ruckus aroused the attention of several neighboring people, who walked to the canal’s edge to check what was going on. Fortunately, they observed the tiny dog helplessly flailing in the water, surrounded by dolphins.

One of the dolphins was observed prodding the weary dog with his snout to assist keep it on the water’s surface while another dolphin was spotted going beneath the dolphin to help it remain afloat. The dolphins seemed to comprehend what they needed to do to keep the dog alive while also catching the attention of those who could aid in rescuing the dog from the deep water.

The spectators instantly phoned the fire department. The first responders raced in to rescue the poor small dog from the surging waters that were going to drown it. The firefighters offered first aid and calculated that the poor little animal had been in the water for 15 hours.

The fortunate dog clearly owes it life to the pod of dolphins who came to its rescue and had the sense to seek for aid. Not to mention the heroic firefighters who went in to aid.
